StreamScanner ("we", "us", "our") operates the website www.streamscanner.io and the StreamScanner iOS app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.

What We Don't Collect

StreamScanner does not require an account. We do not collect your name, email address, password, payment information, or any other personally identifiable information. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user profile.

Analytics (PostHog)

We use PostHog for privacy-friendly product analytics. PostHog is only loaded after you explicitly consent via the cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics data is collected.

When consented, PostHog collects anonymous usage data such as pages visited, searches performed, and features used. We do not track you across other websites. PostHog uses anonymous identifiers — we never send your IP address or personal information to PostHog. On the server side, IP addresses are hashed with SHA-256 before use as anonymous identifiers.

Geo-Detection

We detect your country using an HTTP header provided by our hosting platform (Vercel). This is used solely to show streaming availability relevant to your region. Your country code is stored in your browser's localStorage so it persists between visits. No precise location data (city, coordinates) is collected or stored.

Local Storage

We use your browser's localStorage to remember your preferences (selected streaming services, country, analytics consent). This data never leaves your device and is not sent to any server.

Cloudflare & Hosting

Our website is hosted on Vercel and uses Cloudflare for DNS and CDN. These services may process your IP address and standard HTTP request metadata (user agent, referrer) as part of normal web hosting operations. Please refer to Vercel's Privacy Policy and Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for details.

Third-Party APIs

To provide streaming availability data, our server makes requests to third-party APIs (TMDB, Streaming Availability API, Watchmode, OMDB). These requests are made server-side — your browser does not contact these services directly. No user-identifiable information is sent to these APIs.

Affiliate Links

StreamScanner contains affiliate links to VPN providers and streaming services. When you click an affiliate link, you are redirected to the third-party provider's website. We track that a click occurred (anonymously) for analytics purposes, but we do not share any personal information with affiliate partners. The third-party provider's own privacy policy applies once you leave StreamScanner.

iOS App

The StreamScanner iOS app is a thin wrapper around our website. It does not collect any additional data beyond what the website collects. The app may use secure on-device storage (Keychain) for preferences. No data is synced to external servers from the app.

Children's Privacy

StreamScanner is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of StreamScanner after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
